*Everyone is welcome to the Pop In where tea, coffee and biscuits are available and people have a chance to natter and catch up with village life. There is usually a second hand book stall, local honey, jigsaws and bric a brac to buy. Villagers also bring their garden produce and plants at the appropriate times of year.
In addition to these regular activities (newcomers welcome to turn up) there are many additional events which take place in the Hall during the year. A ‘Knit and Natter’ group operates in the winter, a winter show takes place in March or April, a Cream Tea is held in June and a Christmas Lunch in December.
The Hall is also open for bookings, via Mrs Slater, for children’s parties, wakes, wedding receptions, private parties and events, birthday and anniversary celebrations, jumble sales, quiz nights, race evenings etc. The kitchen facilities are very good and the recently renewed toilets are a particular improvement.
The Hall is well-used by local residents and others and advertises its activities in the shop, on the Village Hall noticeboard and on the notice area outside Church Cottage There is often a mention of events in Gill Griffin’s Iden column in the local Rye newspaper, the ‘Iden Quarterly’ magazine and the local ‘Fixtures’ free monthly leaflet. There is positive encouragement to newcomers to attend activities.
